The following criteria will be used in selecting the RPHOA Yard of the Month Award:
  • Yard must be well goomed (grass must be mowed and edged) and lawns must be green and weed-free or weeds under control.
  • Landscape should be attractive and pleasing to the eye, using a variety of plants such as trees, shrubs, ground cover, flowers and wildflowers with a variety of heights, textures and colors.
  • Pruned and trimmed shrubs and trees.
  • Plantings must be living - no plastic, silk or artificial plants.
  • Garden accents such as walls, paths, seating, water interests, statuaries, birdbaths, art, etc. must be tasteful and not overdone
  • Yard serves as an inspiration to others in the neighborhood.
  • Only the front yards as viewed from the street will be judged.  Backyards will not be considered, even if visible from the street.

Other items considered by the committee include:

  • Buildings, fences, porches and patios on the property must be in good repair.
  • Property must be free of litter, junk and debris.
  • Property must be free of inoperable vehicles
  • Winner must be in good standing with the RPHOA (dues paid in full, in compliance with CCR's and Bylaws).

RPHOA Board members and the Compliance Committee will judge, determine and select the Yard of the Month on the last weekend of each month prior to the award.  Yard of the Month signs will be placed in the winning yards on the first day of the following month, to remain the entire month.  Judges decisions are final.
